A Tribute for Mum from John Bennett a close and dear friend

Created by Judy 6 years ago
Susan would have been delighted, indeed amused and gratified to have seen today's turnout of family and friends dispensing with traditional somber style of dress for something more colourful, adding a certain style and panache to the occasion. How she disliked black. how she would have approved!

Our families have been friends for a long long time, back to the days when on Saturday mornings people met and gossiped in Greenlane which was so crowded one often had to walk in the road. When we had shops not Estate agents.Thank you Waitrose!

Our sons went to school together and Marc spent many happy times chez Fitch, always returning home with tales of exciting trips and visits, escapades, Mr Fitchs motor cars, being kept firmly in line by Judy. Above all he was in admiration for the quality and abundance of Mrs Fitchs cooking!
Fitch hospitality was and is well known and appreciated.

We regularly enjoyed going to the royal show and the Game Fare but despite an initial interest in agricultural matters it quickly turned into a form of Harrods in the country side . She did enjoy shopping !

Unfortunately Susans later years were bedevilled with ill health, one thing after another. Her courage in dealing with the lousy cards delt her was extraordinary. She was inspirational in showing to us all how to cope with constant pain and suffering. All without rancour. You never heard her say 'Why Me"

She was a staunch and loyal friend to us all
We have been enriched by having her with us
I feel privileged to have known her
It was a pleasure and an honour

Thank You Sue .
